Mr. Naqvi, on the other hand, has extensive expertise in the consumer product industry. He worked for Johnson & Johnson’s Research and Development (R&D) division.

Once clients have used all items, they may reorder the specific tablet and refill the bottle with water, therefore avoiding the waste associated with single-use plastic bottles.

Mr. Naqvi, on the other hand, has extensive expertise in the consumer product industry. He worked for Johnson & Johnson’s Research and Development (R&D) division.

Sarah Paiji Yoo, co-founder, was driven to be a part of the solution aimed at eradicating plastic waste from the environment.

She came up with the concept when giving her infant water-based formula and reading about dissolved micro plastics in the world’s oceans.

She joined forces with Syed Naqvi to fight plastic pollution through the development of novel, non-toxic cleaning tablets and ecologically friendly packaging.

She is passionate about developing meaningful consumer brands and has written for outlets such as Forbes, The Wall Street Journal, and TechCrunch.

Her concept was to create “green” cleaning products, and the result was Blueland. The brand consists of four products: a bathroom cleaner, a window cleaner, an all-purpose cleaner, and hand soap.

Customers purchase “forever bottles” once and then refill them with water-soluble pills.

The bottles cost $12 each or $38 for all four. Refill pills are available for only $2 apiece and come packaged in biodegradable paper packs.

They are 300 times lighter, 200 times smaller, and ship for 90% less than conventional cleaning products.

Sarah thinks that her solution will result in the elimination of 100 billion plastic bottles in the United States alone.

Once she had finished the concept, she discovered Syed on Linked-In and invited him to join her in assisting with patent application and bringing the product to market.

They raised $3 million in seed funding from investors including Justin Timberlake. They intend to expand their product line beyond cleaning goods in the future by employing the same techniques.

What Happened to Blueland Soap at Shark Tank pitch?

Sarah and Syed decide to propose their innovation to Shark Tank investors in order to help create a new method for customers to purchase cleaning products and more.

Syed and Sarah approach the Shark Tank requesting $270,000 for a mere 2% stake in their firm, which is valued at $13.5 million, eliciting sighs and gasps from the Sharks.

While handing out samples and explaining their product, they reveal that they are a 100% direct to consumer firm, but are in the process of signing a deal with a large box retailer.

The Sharks are concerned about customer behavior shifting, but they believe in the concept.

Lori Griener and guest Shark Daniel Lubetzky form a partnership and provide $270,000 in exchange for 8% stake in the firm.

Kevin O’ Leary enters the fray and offers $270,000 for 5% ownership and 1% advisory shares. Syed and Sarah object, prompting Mark Cuban to exit the deal, claiming they were just present for the pitch.

Following Mark’s criticism, the couple offers Kevin O’ Leary $270,000 in exchange for 3% equity and a fifty cent royalty on each kit sold until he recoups his money.

Kevin accepts their offer, and they close the deal.
