Inirv Shark Tank Update | Inirv after Shark Tank Pitch
What is Inirv?
The Inirv React is the first device that allows the user to access the stove from the smartphone, protecting them and other loved ones from the disaster of house fires.
Its sensors enable it to detect high levels of smoke, natural gas, and absence of motion (or, in this case, you in the kitchen), as well as react and switch off your stove to keep you safe.
It also allows the user to set the burner temperature and monitor the stove from afar.
If the sensor detects a high quantity of smoke or gas in the kitchen for an extended length of time, the stove knobs are “told” to turn off the stove.
A smartphone app, Google Home, and Alexa can all be used to manage Inirv sensors and knobs. They just turn off the stove; the knobs do not turn it on.
By never leaving the stove on, you may make your home safer.
The Inirv firm idea first came to Akshita’s imagination in 2016, when her wheelchair-bound mother moved in with her.
They were on their way to the movies when Akshita realized she had left the stove on.
She returned home right away to find the house filled with smoke.
Despite the fact that no one was hurt, her favourite dog, who had been left home alone, was deeply shaken by the experience.
Who Founded Inirv?
Ranjith Babu and Akshita Iyer are the founders of Inirv.
What happen to Inirv at the Shark Tank Pitch?
In February 2017, the company launched with a successful Kickstarter campaign that raised $175,548.
They also raised $183,727 through IndieGoGo.
They haven’t supplied any things yet (as of January 1, 2018), although it appears they are working toward doing so.
On their website, they are now accepting “reservation orders.” The cost of one sensor device with one knob is $99.
A sensor unit and four knobs are included in a $229 full kit.
Inirv is only compatible with stoves that have knobs; if yours has buttons, you’re out of luck. Babu and Iyer are most likely looking for Shark assistance with production concerns.
Ranjith and Akshita are looking for $800,000 in exchange for 8% of their company.
This brings the valuation of the Company to be $10 million.
They make their case, focusing on the consequences of “distracted cooking.”
Then they put their knobs on a stove onstage to show how it works.
They give out samples after the pitch.
They explain to the Sharks that they are still in the prototype stage and are fine-tuning the product.
The $430,000 they raised on Kickstarter thrilled the Sharks. They have also applied for a number of patents.
Mark is the first Shark to go out since he doesn’t believe people will buy it. Kevin thinks their valuation is ridiculous and that he won’t be able to get his money back; he’s out.
Daymond sees no way of getting his money back, so he’s gone.
Robert offers $800,000 in exchange for 20% of the business.
Robert leaves when they counter with $800,000 for 10% + 2.5 percent advisory shares.
Lori Greiner says she likes the concept but doesn’t see it coming to fruition. Despite her desire to be a part of the Inirv adventure, she leaves.
Inirv after the Shark Tank Pitch
Six months after debuting on ABC’s “Shark Tank,” a Duke University-based firm INIRV was charged as defendants in a lawsuit over smart stove knob prototypes that were reportedly featured on the show.
INIRV was sued by the business they hired to make their knobs a little more than six months after the scheduled air date.
INIRV was accused of owing them money for services done, according to the lawsuit.
INIRV argues that the firm failed to produce a working product, which cost them sales and investment potential, according to a counterclaim filed in September 2018.
They reached an agreement in December of 2018. The terms were kept under wraps.
Now it’s 2021, and they still haven’t delivered to their Kickstarter donors (over 4 years). Backers’ angry comments abound on the crowdfunding pages.
Inirv announced in February 2021 that they will be shipping soon.
Inirv gave another update in May 2021, indicating that there were complications owing to a chip shortage.
Inirv revamped and changed its name to Ome in June of 2021.
Inirv have yet to deliver and are still accepting pre-orders on their website, but they claim to be “near” to having things available for delivery.
Inirv Net Worth
The Company was valued at $10 million by the owners during the Shark Tank Pitch.
There are other devices on the market that protect people against accidental fires.
The most popular one is the Nest Protect, which detects smoke and CO2 and warns people with a short beep.
Its central hub can be used to shut off the alarm system or the heating system remotely.
It also sends notifications to your smartphone or tablet when it detects danger, so you can easily react.
How do the knobs work?
They detect smoke at a high level or gas, and they shut off the stove.
Will it work on a grill?
Yes, but you need a gas tank.
Will they have to install the device themselves?
You’ll have to remove the knob, but it’s easy. The company provides detailed instructions on their website.
What do they need to run an Inirv?
They need a connection for heat, smoke or CO2, power source, water source, and a smart appliance with knobs.
Can Inirv turn their stove on by itself?
For safety purposes, Inirv cannot turn your stove on itself.
This is both a hardware and software limitation.
You will need to manually turn on the burner(s), after which Inirv will automatically activate.
Do they have to use the Wi-Fi feature?
Our smartphone app allows you to easily turn off the Wi-Fi. Even if it is disabled, the safety features will remain active and Inirv will continue to protect your home.
Does Inirv change the way I use their stove?
No! Use your stove as you normally do every day. Inirv is automatically activated when you turn your stove on – no need to press any buttons.
How is Inirv powered?
Inirv uses AA batteries to power the sensor unit, and rechargeable batteries to power the knob units. You will be notified when it’s time for a battery recharge/change.
How many sensor and knob units do they need in their home?
You need one knob unit for every burner on your stovetop, but only one sensor unit.
Inirv will be sold in a package of 4 knob units and 1 sensor unit.
If your stove has more than 4 burners, you can purchase additional knob units to ensure complete protection.
Will Inirv come in different colours?
Yes! Inirv will be sold in black, white, and stainless steel to fit perfectly with your kitchen decor.
You will have the option to choose a colour for the sensor unit and knob units.
Will Inirv integrate with other smart home devices?
Yes! We are working to integrate Inirv with as many smart home systems as possible.
Did Inirv secure a deal at the Shark Tank Pitch?
Inirv did not secure a deal at the Shark Tank Pitch.
Is Inirv safe?
Inirv is designed to detect smoke and gas, which are both harmful to humans if inhaled.
Sensors will trip when their thresholds are met, and a beeping alarm will inform you of the issue.
Will Inirv turn off their stove?
No. Inirv will only turn off your stove once it senses smoke or gas.
Is Inirv waterproof?
Yes. Even if you drop it in the water, it will still work perfectly.
Do they need to unplug their stove when I install the knob unit?
No. You just need to disconnect your main power supply while you install or remove the knob unit. Remember to check your warranty before you remove your knob unit from your stovetop!
How do they turn off Inirv?
You can turn off Inirv by pressing the “off” button on the knob unit.
What type of batteries does Inirv use?
Inirv uses AA batteries for the sensor unit, and rechargeable AA batteries for the knob units. The sensor unit has a life of over 2 years. The knob units will require recharging after 7-8 months.
How do they change the batteries in Inirv?
Changing batteries is easy! Remove the knob unit, open up the battery compartment, and replace the batteries with two AA batteries (included in your package). This should take you less than 5 minutes.
How can they remove their knob unit?
You can remove your knob unit very easily by pressing down on the release mechanism.
The only tool you need is a quarter! Once you have removed your knob unit, remember to disconnect your main power supply before installing or removing a knob unit.
