Its target market is the working guy who appreciates a refreshing beer after a hard day. It is available in two hues (black and brown).

Muff Waders was created by Taylor (Earl) Nees and Garret Lamp. Garret is a recent Iowa State University advertising graduate with job experience in video production.

Taylor is a good for country lad who has spent his whole life in Holstein, Iowa. He previously worked as an electrician for Holstein Electric, a company owned by his high school classmate Garret’s mother and stepfather.

Who is the founder of Muff Waders?

Muff Waders was founded by Taylor Nees and Garret Lamp. Taylor had the concept for the product while watching a high school football game in late 2016.

When he was joking with his friends, they mentioned how unusual it would be to have overalls within which you could store chilled six-packs of beer, great for sneaking into the stadium.

Later that evening, while drinking at a pub, he made a prototype sketch on a napkin while the concept was still fresh in his head.

Taylor launched a Kickstarter effort to raise funds, but he fell short of his $135,000 objective. Taylor, undeterred, continued to work on the prototype, and his high school classmate Garret joined the project during this time. Finally, in September 2018, both parties were pleased with the end product.

The next stage was to find a manufacturing, and Taylor ended up proposing the device to over 80 firms before being accepted by one.

Muff Waders was finally up for business, and the product originally showed promise, garnering a lot of attention from a popular video on Facebook.

That project was financed on Kickstarter in October of 2020, however owing to production difficulties caused by the Covid-19 epidemic; distribution has been postponed until spring of 2021.

The Muff Waders are available in brown or black and are composed of thick quality cloth similar to Car hart coats. A pair of waders will set you back $85. The spenders cost $50 and are available in blue or black.

What Happened to Muff Waders at Shark Tank pitch?

In episode 16 of Season 12 of Shark Tank, Taylor Ness and Garrett Lamp seek a Shark investor for Muff Waders, their overalls designed for the drinking man; they want a Shark’s aid with inventory and distribution.

Taylor and Garrett go on Shark Tank, seeking $25,000 for a 25% stake in their company, which is valued at $125,000.

During their pitch, they explain the meaning of “Muff”: “manly” plus “tuff.” They require the assistance of a Shark for supply chain logistics. One unit costs $35 to produce and sells for $85. The total sales amount to $54,000.

Kevin was the first Shark to exit, followed quickly by Mark and Robert. Lori Greiner also stepped away from the deal.

Only one Shark remains, Daymond John, who seems to want to make an offer but eventually exits. Despite amusing the Sharks with their presentation, all of the Sharks depart without a deal.

The firm is still in operation, but they haven’t updated their Facebook page since a few days after the show first aired.

Amazon also lists them as “now unavailable” (they were in stock pre-show so they must have made some sales).

Stevia Nutra Corp. (STNT) is a publicly traded firm that will be able to put real money behind this product’s promotion.
