What is Tenikle?

Tenikle is a flexible phone/camera holder with a 360° suction cup that offers a superior alternative to unstable tripods. Furthermore, because the Tenikle is bendable and flexible, it may be wrapped around poles, tree branches, golf clubs, or just about anything that would offer firm support.

Furthermore, while phones, go-pros, and cameras may be mounted to the device via the suction cups, it comes with an attachable phone clip for convenience.

What Happened to Zinepak after the Shark Tank Pitch?

Hans and Lydia Dose, a husband and wife team established their firm in the same way that many successful entrepreneurs do: in their garage. Tenikle, a tripod with tentacle-like suction cups, is intended for both content makers and inexperienced photographers.

Who is the founder of Tenikle?

Hans and Lydia Dose, a husband and wife team founded Tenikle. He had the idea after breaking his phone on some pebbles while attempting to prop it up on a tree for a picture.

He had an insight on the way home when he put his phone on a suction cup mounted phone holder in his car. “Tripod plus tentacles = a third hand to replace all other mount attachments,” he reasoned.

Tenikle is similar to a Gumby toy that you may have owned as a child. It’s a three-legged, bending tripod with suction cups that look like octopuses.

It can also do a lot more than just serve as a tripod. It may also be used as a vehicle mount, selfie stick, phone stand, and other things. There is also a phone clip that attaches into the device.

He gathered the funding to get started with a successful Kickstarter effort in September 2017 that earned $107,283. In addition, he raised $126,922 on IndieGoGo.

Unfortunately, production and shipping concerns got addressed for two years, and when they were eventually delivered, the product’s quality was subpar.

The business gave backers the option to upgrade to the Tenikle 2, which would take another year to arrive.

They’ve now repaired their ship and are selling on their website and Amazon. A Tenikle 360 in its most recent version costs $5, whereas the “2.0” costs $30.

What Happened to Tenikle at Shark Tank pitch?

In Shark Tank episode 1311, Hans Dose pitches Tenikle, his tripod for attaching phones and cameras.

He wants a Shark to lend him money as well as assist him with the production and shipping snafus he had with his Kickstarter.

Hans appeared on Shark Tank wearing swim fins and an inflatable octopus wrapped around his waist. He was looking for $200,000 for a 10% stake in his firm, which was worth $2 million.

He expresses his affection for octopi and shares the narrative of how he came up with the idea. He describes all of its capabilities and demonstrates how the suction cups can help raising a surfboard.

Mark claims he enjoys it. However, he is looking for figures. Each unit costs $6.08 to manufacture and retails for $45. He sold approximately 40,000 pieces for a total of $1.3 million.

He drafted the patent in 2015 while working as a designer at Hurley (surfboards); it was his ideal job. He showed prototypes to friends and family, who all came up with creative applications for them.

He informs the Sharks about his Kickstarter campaign. The current version is the fourth. He had to keep recreating the device until the suction improved.

He has racked up $270,000 in debt to reach to this stage. He made $478,000 in sales in 2020. He barely made $9000 in sales in a month since he ran out of marketing funds.

He has merchandise worth $111,000 at cost. To save money, he and his wife moved into an RV. Mark claims that in the worst-case situation, he sells in flea markets. Hans reveals that he only has $39 in his bank account.

Kevin has been unable to critique the product or Hans, but he wishes him well and exits. Lori feels it’s a nice product, but it’s in a saturated market, so she’s out.

Robert offers to pay the $270,000 loan and then give him an extra $100,000 in exchange for 60% equity shares in the firm, and he wants Hans to bring in other partners, with the equity coming from Robert.

Daymond empathizes with Hans’ plight and shares a tale about how he raised funds when he first started out.

Daymond believes in Hans and offers $200,000 for 33.3% equity shares; Daymond then reduces his offer to $200,000 for 30% equity shares.

Mark thinks that’s a better offer than he’d make, so he’ll decline. “I’m out,” Hans says that as he turns to face Robert. The Sharks burst out laughing.

Hans counters with $200,000 for 25% equity shares, and Daymond says no. Hans then strikes a deal with Daymond for $200,000 for 30% equity shares, and the pitch ends with a deal.

What Happened to Tenikle after Shark Tank?

After the episode was aired and Hans exited the pitch with a deal, the deal with Daymond is under due diligence.

Hans exceeded $250,000 in sales and was totally sold out on Amazon in the days after the concert.

On the night of the concert, Daymond Tweeted that ”No matter what kind of situation you’re in, there’s always hope. I believe in Hans and his product and am looking forward to working with my new partner!!”
