A memory foam tube wrapped with water-absorbing micro fibre serves as the system’s heart. Simply wash your hair, lay it flat or curl it over the tube, fasten it with the strap, and sleep.

Your hair is dried and groomed without the use of harsh blow dryers in the morning.

Who is the Founder of The Sleep Styler?

Dr. Tara Brown, a mother of two and an ophthalmologist for the past 15 years, designed the Sleep Styler.

Tara graduated from Tulane University Medical School and completed her ophthalmology residency at the University of California before developing The Sleep Styler.

Tara is still an ophthalmologist in practice today.

Tara, a busy mother and doctor, never had time to style her naturally frizzy hair every morning, and she was fed up with how chemicals and heat damage were impacting her hair.

Tara was pulling a braid from her daughter’s hair that had been damp the night before when the idea for The Sleep Styler struck her.

She noted how wet hair held its shape after drying and envisaged a product that could style your hair as you slept.

Tara was well aware that the product she had envisioned would need the use of sewing abilities, which she lacked.

To address this, Tara went in fashion school part-time while continuing to practice ophthalmology until she felt ready to begin producing her product.

Tara’s Kickstarter campaign reached her $10,000 target in 24 hours and ended with a total of $47,000 raised.

When hair dries, it keeps whatever shape it was in. That procedure is used to style hair using the Sleep Styler.

Several prizes were bestowed onto the product, including the Fox San Diego Inventor’s Day 2015 and the Best in Show Award 2015 Direct Response Expo.

What happen to The Sleep Styler at the Shark Tank Pitch?

Tara began The Sleep Styler’s presentation with their audition video.

She stated that she shared a home with her spouse and two children. She and her spouse were both doctors.

People, she claims, don’t realize how difficult it is for women to get dressed in the morning.

She mentioned you’d have to account for hair, cosmetics, and getting the kids dressed in the morning.

Tara believed she had created a solution that would answer a practically universal need for women.

Tara went on Shark Tank hoping to get $75k for a 20% stake in her company. This equates to a $375,000 valuation.

She explains her products, demonstrates them, and gives samples to the Sharks.

Kevin inquired about her sales figures. Tara stated that she had started a Kickstarter campaign two months previously.

She reached her $10,000 financing target in the first 24 hours and concluded the deal for $47,000.

That was more than four times her original target. After the Kickstarter campaign finished, she sold $6000 worth of items only on her website. That’s not bad for only three weeks of sales.

Tara said that the eight-pack retailed for $39 but only cost her $9.94 to create.

Lori inquired as to how much she had invested, and Tara revealed that she had put $100,000 of her own money in.

Robert questioned Tara on why she need the $75,000 in the first place. She claimed that she could invest the funds on her own, but that she wanted the business experience of a Shark on her side.

Lori stated that she was pleased with the result. She described it as feeling like a gorgeous super suede that she would like to sleep on. She thought it was a brilliant idea.

Lori expressed her desire for it and stated that she would make an offer. She apologizes to the rest of the Sharks.

Lori offered Tara $75,000 in return for 30% ownership. She thought it would be a fantastic offering for QVC.

She informed Terry that all she wanted was for her to say yes right now.

Tara inquired, nervously, whether she might make a counter-offer.

Robert advised her to go for it since he had never seen Lori so enthusiastic about a product.

Tara asked Lori if she was willing to go down to 25%. Lori studied it as she looked down at her notes.

She eventually agreed, and the two stood up to hug each other.
