Best Cities in Italy #1 Florence

Best Cities in Italy

What to do in Florence as a couple?

Florence is the ideal place to enjoy the architecture, the museums, the beautiful churches, and quiet walks on the edge of the Arno river that runs through the city. You cannot miss visiting the Cathedral of Santa Maria del Fiore, Michelangelo’s David in the Accademia Gallery in Florence or the many bridges on the river, especially the Ponte Vecchio. And since you are in one of the most beautiful cities in Italy, you cannot miss a good meal in one of the many open-air restaurants in the hundreds of squares between the city.

What did we like most about Florence?

The night walks were the best memory we brought back from Florence. Since we went in the summer, we were able to escape the heat and the hordes of tourists that plague the city during the day (as in all the most beautiful and visited cities in Italy!). And at night the city changes colors: the bridges, the churches, and the main buildings light up, those little lanterns that we like so much light up at every corner and the musicians, artists and the street party come out.

Best Cities in Italy #2 VENICE ITALY

Best Cities in Italy

What to do in Venice as a couple?

Walk, walk, and walk. Venice is one of the best cities in Italy to get carried away by the canals with its bridges and hidden passages that meander here and there. It is almost impossible to make a list of what to see in Venice because it would be almost the entire city. You have to go around the Canal Grande, which is surrounded by the best-known bridges, and reach the Plaza de San Marcos. You will find the Basilica of San Marcos, the Ducal Palace, and one of the best views on the island. After that, get lost and discover new corners in one of the most beautiful cities in Italy!

What did we like most about Venice?

The thousands of canals in the city, especially the ones we unexpectedly found along the way. There are so many water branches everywhere that there will always be some watercourse out there, surrounded by old colored houses, with a gondola strolling silently and no people around. Those brief moments of tranquility are the ones that have stuck in our memory the most.

Best Cities in Italy #3 VERONA, ITALY

Best Cities in Italy

What to do in Verona as a couple?

Of all the most beautiful cities in Italy, Verona has one of the best-known stories in the world. Do you know what story we are talking about? From Romeo and Juliet. And what more romantic than to follow in the footsteps of Romeo and Juliet? Because here, in Verona, they both lived their love story, according to the story. It all starts at Juliet’s House, on the balcony from where Juliet was calling Romeo. It is in a small alley full of love messages on the walls, the floor, and even the plants. Nothing escapes declarations of eternal love. And the walk continues through the Casa de Romeo, the Stone Bridge, back to the Verona Arena and the Castelvecchio Bridge.

What did we like most about Verona?

Walks along the Adige river, which passes through the middle of the city. This way, we move away from the crowded and packed alleys, to enjoy the tranquility that the reflection of the lights in the river gave. The best views of Verona were from the still brick bridges. The colors, the bell towers, and the towers scattered to the horizon made Verona earn a place among the most beautiful cities in Italy.

Best Cities in Italy #4 MANAROLA, CINQUE TERRE

Best Cities in Italy

What to do in Manarola as a couple?

Enjoy the sea and the tranquility, above all. Manarola is in an area called Cinque Terre, and it is just one of the five small towns here, but probably one of the most beautiful towns in Italy. You can not miss a walk through the mountains surrounding Manarola, then sit in one of the cafes with ocean views and watch the sunset.

What did we like the most about Manarola?

The wonderful views of the city. After touring the houses, cafes, and steps that make up the city, the best hike moves away from Manarola. And from here, what beauty! Manarola is full of colors, unlike other cities in Italy, and what better way to fall in love with it by admiring it from afar, surrounded by the sea and green mountains.

So now you know. If you want a romantic trip, Italy is the ideal country. And with this list, you already know which are the best cities in Italy to visit as a couple. Do not miss it!
