Is Chipotle Still Owned By Mcdonald’s?
McDonald’s opted to exit the Chipotle business in 2006, selling all of its Chipotle ownership back to the company. According to Steve Easterbrook, who served as CEO of McDonald’s from 2015 to 2019, the burger firm opted to focus on its core business.
The two companies also began competing for labor, as Chipotle offered better pay and benefits. Easterbrook explained that the partnership didn’t help either business achieve its goals, so it was terminated.
Why is Chipotle closing?
The company says that the closure is because of staffing issues, but workers say it is because of their efforts to unionize.
