Little Nomad is completely waterproof, so you can even wash it if you need to! If the child needs a temporary break, or if you need a little time to yourself, the play mat folds up into a neat square that can be set on the side.

Who is the founder of Little Nomad?

Elizabeth Granados is the founder of Little Nomad. Elizabeth earned a Bachelor of Science in Marketing from Emerson College and worked as a New Business Development Manager for a picture kiosk firm before launching her own in 2016. She is still the CEO of the company today.

Granados appreciated the utility of foam mats for kids’ play or exercise, but she didn’t like how most mats looked. She set out to design interlocking foam mats that would appear attractive and trendy in her house.

Foam mats are excellent play surfaces for toddlers on hard surfaces, but the majority of them come in bright, eye-catching hues.

Little Nomad mats are designed to seem like “real” carpets, so they may be left out after baby goes to bed. They can also be used as workout mats by mum and dad.

In June of 2016, the firm finished a successful Kickstarter campaign and delivered her items in November of the same year.

What Happened to Little Nomad at Shark Tank pitch?

After a successful Kickstarter campaign in June 2016, the firm was featured in episode 15 of Season 8 of Little Nomad on Shark Tank. Elizabeth opted to pitch her idea to Sharks in order to gain access to mass merchants.

Elizabeth enters the pitch seeking for $80,000 in exchange for a 15% stake in her company, which is worth $533,333.

She walks in with her husband and their toddler, Talia. As they explain why they are useful for children, they have a bright foam pad on the floor.

She turns Talia over to Kevin and removes the colorful foam pad to show her chic Little Nomad mat. She then sends Talia out with her husband for “sleep time” and gives the Sharks sample tiles.

She tells the Sharks that she has pre-sold $114,000 in mats through her Kickstarter campaign in just three and a half months of operation.

She stated that she had yet to ship anything. She describes how the Kickstarter campaign got popular in online “mom clubs.” She hopes to see the product at baby-related retail establishments in the future.

She pays $16.39 for each unit and sells them for $139. With those margins, Mark believes she should sell direct online.

The Sharks debate the distinctions between Little Nomad and the competition. They are also concerned about the price point in comparison to “normal” mats.

Robert and Kevin are opposed to retail since the merchandise takes up too much room. Elizabeth believes she will need retail experience to enter the world of baby gift registries.

Daymond goes out because he believes that others will not pay the hefty fee. Mark claims she’s driven, but she doesn’t need a partner because he’s also out.

Kevin refers to it as an expensive foam mat, and he also goes out. Robert tells her she’s too early and exits. That only leaves Lori.

She likes the product and Elizabeth, but her “gut” tells her that she should get out. Elizabeth finally exits the pitch without a deal.

What Happened to Little Nomad after Shark Tank?

Despite leaving the pitch without a deal, Little Nomad sold all of its inventory after the show aired and has been working hard to keep up with demand ever since.

Moms all around the country adore the product’s design, and it continues to sell well on Amazon.

Elizabeth funded $267,622 on Kickstarter in June 2019 to debut her NamaMat for the kitchen. Elizabeth rebranded the company to The House of NOA in October 2019 to focus on “beautiful, useful things for real living.”

In 2020, three new items were introduced: a portable high chair mat, an exercise mat, and table/place mats.

She introduced washable rugs in 2021. The firm is still in operation and doing well with less than $5 million in yearly revenue as of November 2021.
