As of July 2022, Mountainflow Eco Wax had annual sales of $3 million and a business valuation of $2.5 million.

The company has seen significant growth in the past year due to the increasing number of countries banning petroleum-based waxes.

Mountainflow Eco Wax currently has several world champions signed with them as they pledge to keep the world safe. As of March 2023, Mountainflow Eco Wax’s net worth is estimated to be around $3 million.

What is MountainFlow Eco-Wax? Who is the founder of MountainFlow Eco-Wax?

MountainFlow Eco-Wax is a company that creates eco-friendly waxes made from plants for the skiing and snowboarding community.

They extend the same philosophy to their bike cleaning solutions and chain lube for mountain bikers.

The company is operated and owned by skiers, snowboarders, and mountain bikers who continuously test and improve their products to ensure their customers receive the best experience possible.

The company was founded by Peter Arlein, a University of Alaska-Anchorage alumnus who studied Business Administration for his Master’s degree.

Before starting this venture, he worked in various fields, including fishing, rafting, ski patrol, and as a sales and marketing director for a seafood company.

Later, he worked for a digital marketing firm in Colorado. MountainFlow Eco-Wax’s initial product was a water-based spray to keep snow off the skis.

They started testing hundreds of plant-based wax compositions in 2017 and have continued to do so for two years.

The company’s first wax project began with a successful Kickstarter campaign in October of 2016, where they raised $21,506.

The company’s mission is to use post-consumer recycled materials in their packaging and be recognized by the USDA as a bio-based enterprise.

The wax ranges from $13.95 to $27.95, depending on its intended use. Numerous ski slopes and REI stores carry MountainFlow, but most of the sales are made through their website.

MountainFlow Eco-Wax Shark Tank Pitch

Peter Arlein presented his plant-based ski wax product, MountainFlow Eco Wax, in episode 1208 of Shark Tank.

He sought a Shark to assist him with inventory management and offered a 10% stake in his $2.5 million business in exchange for $250,000.

Peter distributed samples of his product and discussed his desire to expand into the worldwide market, citing new international regulations that would prohibit petroleum-based waxes and benefit his company. In 2019, his sales were $150,000, and he anticipated reaching $750,000 in 2020.

Lori and Mark were not interested and left quickly. Barbara offered $250,000 for 20% equity, while Mr. Wonderful offered $250,000 for 15% equity.

Barbara then proposed a partnership with Kevin, with each investing $125,000 for 10% equity, but Daymond offered $250,000 for 25% equity and added professional skier Lindsey Vonn to the deal.

Peter declined Daymond’s offer, stating that he already had professional skiers on board, and asked Barbara and Kevin to reduce their percentages. Instead, they offered $300,000 for 20% equity, which Peter accepted, concluding the presentation with a deal.

The episode was rerun less than two months after its original airing, and as of February 2022, MountainFlow Eco Wax was still in operation, generating $3 million in yearly sales. Although the deal between Barbara and Kevin was not finalized, the company continued to thrive.
